Douglas-Fir
Pseudotsuga menziesii
Douglas-Fir
Currently unavailable
In its youth, it exhibits a narrow, spired pyramidal form with drooping lower branches and ascending upper branches. As it matures, the tree becomes cylindrical and loses its lower branches, leaving foliage mainly at the upper third of the tree. Douglas-fir is notable for its unique forked cone bracts and pendulous cones, which measure approximately 3 to 4 inches in length. The dark green, flat needles, about 1.25 inches long, feature white undersides and emit a pleasant fragrance when crushed. Can handle acidic to neutral soils.
