Elephant Heart Plum Fruit Tree
Prunus salicina 'Elephant Heart'
Plum Fruit Tree
Currently unavailable
Prolific, large, heart-shaped plums are unique in flavor and color. The skin is curiously colored with tan/yellow flecks against a reddish background while inside the deep red flesh is firm, crispy, sweet and juicy. Ripens in late summer. Good for fresh eating, canning or freezing. Reportedly self-fertile, though typically needs a second Japanese Plum (Prunus salicina) for best fruit set. Requires yearly pruning in late winter for plant health.
