'Buckeye Gala' is a modern, full-red sport (natural mutation) of the 'Imperial Gala' apple cultivar. Discovered in Ohio in 1994, it produces medium-sized apples known for their exceptionally dark, almost solid-red color, which develops even in hot climates. The fruit has a sweet and crisp flavor with a slightly tangy aftertaste. This variety requires 500–700 chill hours (the cumulative time below 45°F) to produce fruit.
