Mahonia aquifolium
Oregon Grape
In stock · from $59.99
An upright, irregular shrub. The spiny foliage is a lustrous, dark green. It blooms in the spring with 3" long racemes of bright yellow flowers, which mature into dark blue fruit. The flowers are edible & can be added raw to salads or boiled to make a lemonade substitute. The berries can be eaten right off the bush, but are best cooked and sweetened in a jam. Leaves tend to remain on the plant during winter after turning red in the fall.
