Tulip tree is the tallest growing deciduous tree in North America. This cultivar of the tulip tree will stay smaller and more upright than the species. It will create a lovely vertical accent in the landscape. In its youth, it will have a narrow pyramidal habit, changing to broadly columnar at maturity. Green foliage, shaped somewhat like a tulip, turns bold yellow in the fall. Lime green, tulip-shaped flowers show up in early spring. 'Fastigiatum' is sometimes sold under the name 'Arnold'.
