Holodiscus discolor
Oceanspray Ironwood
Currently unavailable
A large shrub with textured green leaves that looks spectacular covered in large frothy white blooms from late spring into summer. The flowers have a sweet fragrance and provide food for hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. The flowers turn to brown seeds that persist well into winter and along with interesting branching and exfoliating bark on older plants, they provide winter interest. Highly adaptable and easy to grow, it will even grow in shade, though much slower. Drought tolerant with strong branches not prone to breaking or needing pruning.
