Hardy Rubber Tree
Currently unavailable
Very similar to Elm trees with small, serrated green leaves that can appear to glimmer in moonlight. Fresh leaves contain a sticky substance when torn, thus the name. Great as a shade tree as it tolerates drought when established, clay or compacted soils, alkaline soil, and urban conditions well. Some minimal pruning when young will produce a well branched, stately form that needs no further maintenance. Seeds are small and typically not messy. Strong, break-resistant branches. No appreciable fall color. No issue with becoming invasive due to slow growth and unlikely seed germination.
