Elegantissima Compact Variegated Boxwood
Buxus sempervirens 'Elegantissima'
Compact Variegated Boxwood
Currently unavailable
A compact, variegated cultivar belonging to the boxwood family. This mid-sized, woody, evergreen shrub boasts a rounded growth habit. Historically, the boxwood name alludes to the wood's use in crafting boxes. Thriving in part shade or morning sun, it prefers well-drained, loamy soil with a near-neutral ph. While it may grow less vigorously in full shade and risk leaf scorching in full sun, post-frost pruning helps maintain its shape and encourages air circulation. With shallow roots, it's advised to minimize cultivation near the trunk, and a layer of organic mulch proves beneficial.
