Narrow, upright, and fast growing nature. 'Armstrong' is sometimes preferred over columnar Sugar Maple or Norway maple because of its vigorous growing habit and tolerance to heat. The bark is silver-gray, the foliage is bright green with silver undersides. Fall color is orange to red.
