Noted for retaining superior red-purple foliage through the heat of the summer. Upright, pendulous habit featuring finely textured leaves. Foliage emerges bright red before mellowing to burgundy for summer. Fall brings another round of brighter crimson-red color. Prefers sunnier locations than some other red-leafed Japanese maples, but may scorch in extreme heat and requires some shelter from cold winter winds.
